the score. marks on a page.

I did these illustrations for fun, usually while I was working on a piece of music or learning to play a new instrument bought on my travels.
The best format to show them I can think of so far is by the page so click the page numbers and enjoy.

THE SCORE

To compose without any or very little preparation, to extemporize, or to improvise, is what this series of prints are about, and though a certain amount of technique and skill may have been employed in perform them, the compositions themselves, that is the act of drawing the images on to paper in the first place was without exception improvised. That they are informed by object, place, time and experience, is the point.

The word score is complex, but in this case my intention was to imply not only the idea of making marks, or keeping a register or tally of ideas, but also the orchestral sense of moving through time with silence and sound
