I did these illustrations for fun, usually while I was working on a piece of music or learning to play a new instrument bought on my travels.
The best format to show them I can think of so far is by the page so click the page numbers and enjoy.

BlowThe Harp "blow the harp" evolved from a piece of music I played on the bazouki. I had been looking at pictures of mandolins with carved figureheads above the machine heads, which started me off on the body in hand, on leg of harp. The rest followed just as it often does when I improvise, and that's the point really, to let things happen without planning them, to see where thy lead. I meant to put wine in the glass, but my daughter wanted it to be Guinness and who am I to argue .Above the harp is a suspended diminished note that looks to me like It might be hanging in from another odd string of thoughts. I love the fact that my mind wanders when I play and that there is not always sense to it, that often things are abstract and that conversations have no recognisable words, but are as clear as things could be maybe even more clear. Thoughts drip, drip like a tap with a dodgy washer and the resulting puddle helps the drips make music. The splashes create the images that come from it, quite how sense can come out of it I don’t know, but believe me sometimes it's the best sense there is. Mixed Media |
